Students MUST take the Departmental Final Exam at one of the e-testing centers at North or Central Campus. Details will be in the syllabus and course outline. This is mandatory for this course.  If you cannot do this, please consider taking a face-to-face course on one of the BC campuses.

D2L Orientation will be in your course on D2L and will be accessible on Wednesday, 1/23/13 at 12:01 AM, the first day of the course. This orientation must be completed by Sunday, 1/27/12, midnight.

Course Description

College Preparatory Reading 2 (also called Developmental Reading 2) teaches basic reading and study skills to prepare students for college course work. An EAP0420C student must have an A, B, or C in EAP420C and have taken the reading portion of the PERT assessment to place into REA0017C. Special fee charged.

Prerequisite: Completion of REA0007C with a grade of "C" or higher or placement by assessment test.

This is a 4-credit hour course. Normally, a 4-credit hour course would meet two times each week for a total of 3 hours per week or 48 hours per term. Since this course is fully online, your attendance will be determined by your on time completion of online activities, assessments, assignments, and other online tasks.

Methods of Instruction

The student is responsible for completing online tasks assigned throughout the term. All of these have a time limit and/or due date within which the student must complete the work. D2L work may consist of the following: discussions (equivalent to classroom discussions), assignments, assessments (quizzes), projects, and various other online activities.

Students will strengthen their basic reading and study skills. Text readings, homework, reading lab assignments, online lessons, and discussions are all designed to help students become successful in meeting the academic challenges they will face in their various courses. Upon successful completion of this course, the students should have mastered reading and study skills necessary for entry into college level course work.

Learning Outcomes
